Front Entrance Doors
Solid, secure, and styled to make a statement
Your front door does a lot of work. It’s the first thing people see, it takes the weather all year round, and it needs to feel solid every time you close it.
At JM Joinery we manufacture bespoke timber front entrance doors from our workshop in Callow, Herefordshire. Every door is made to order – sized to your opening, designed to suit your property, and built to last.
Why choose a JM Joinery front door?
Bespoke sizes and designs – no trying to make a standard size “almost fit”.
Proper timber joinery – engineered sections, strong joints, and sensible section sizes.
Secure and weather-tight – quality locks, hinges, seals and thresholds.
Made in Herefordshire – built in our own workshop, not imported.
Supply only or supply & fit – we can manufacture for your fitter, or install within our fitting area.
Door styles & designs
We can match an existing door, work from a photo, or design something new. Common styles include:
Traditional panelled doors – 2, 3, 4 or 6-panel layouts
Glazed doors – clear, obscure or decorative glass
Doors with side lights and fanlights – to bring more daylight into the hallway
Boarded and cottage-style doors – simple, solid and timeless
Modern designs – cleaner lines, wider boards and minimal detailing
You’re not stuck with a brochure. If you’ve seen something you like, send us a photo and we’ll tell you what’s realistic in timber.
Timber options
We choose materials that suit the job and the budget:
Accoya for maximum stability and long service life
Oak and selected hardwoods for a more traditional, natural look
Quality softwood for painted doors on tighter budgets
All timber is sourced from suppliers who promote sustainable forest management and can provide chain-of-custody documentation where needed.
Construction & performance
A front door needs more than a pretty design – it has to work:
Engineered or laminated sections to reduce twisting and bowing
Modern weather seals around the frame for improved insulation
Durable threshold options to cope with heavy use and wet weather
High-performance glazing where glass is used (toughened or laminated as required)
On glazed doors and entrance screens we can provide U-value information on request.
Security
We build security into the design from the start:
Multi-point locking systems available on most entrance doors
Quality hinges with appropriate fixings into frame and structure
Laminated safety glass available for vulnerable locations
Reinforcement and hardware choices discussed at quote stage, so you know what you’re getting.
If you’ve got specific security concerns, let us know when you enquire and we’ll advise what makes sense for your door and location.
Finishes
We can supply your door:
Fully factory painted – in a standard or custom colour
Stained / oiled – to show off the timber
Primed only – ready for your decorator if preferred
Factory finishing gives the best protection, especially for exposed locations and dark colours.
Supply Only or Supply & Fit
We work in two main ways:
Supply Only
Ideal if you have your own fitter, builder or are outside our usual fitting radius.
Doors can be supplied with frames, ironmongery, glazing and seals – ready to install.
Collection from our workshop in Callow, HR2 8BP (delivery can be discussed depending on order and location).
Supply & Fit
Full installation service within roughly an hour’s drive of our workshop.
Old frames and doors removed (as agreed), new units installed, sealed and made good to our scope.
Particularly recommended for more complex entrance screens and doors with side lights/fanlights.
What we need to quote
To price a front door properly, it helps if you can send:
Approximate opening size (width x height)
A photo of the existing door and the front of the house
Any style references – photos, sketches, or something you’ve seen online
Whether you want supply only or supply & fit
Your postcode
From there, we’ll come back with a clear, itemised quotation and realistic lead time – no vague guesses.
